Formula Drift

Spring Show

Formula Drift season opener. FPV drones chasing 1000hp cars sideways through tire smoke at 120mph. We cut a 90-second film from cockpit rigs, night track coverage, and aerial footage that makes the horizon tilt like the driver forgot where level is. Grade split the world in two — amber inside the car, teal outside. Sound was rubber, engine, and nothing else. The season started before anyone saw the schedule.

The footage arrived on four drives. FPV drone. In-car GoPro rigs. A RED Komodo on a gimbal that spent most of its time covered in tire dust. And a set of night shots from a closed track session that looked like they were lit by a single sodium lamp and a prayer. No script. No voiceover. The cars were the script.

Noun
  1. 01. The angle between where the tire points and where the car goes.

  2. 02. Also what the timeline felt like at hour forty.

Three camera worlds, one film. The FPV footage had the energy but zero stability. The in-car rigs had the intimacy but clipped on every transition. The night track had the mood but was underexposed by two stops in places. We leaned into all of it. The edit follows the car, not the clock. We cut on the drift — the moment the rear steps out, the smoke starts, and the frame tilts. FPV for the wide entries. In-car for the commitment. Back to aerial for the smoke trail settling on empty asphalt. The rhythm is the slide. When the car hooks up, the edit breathes.
